Nola and Roux
I graduated from Louisiana State University in May of 2006 with a Master's degree in Social Work. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, CSW 09924336, in Colorado. Since then, I have worked as a case manager for foster children and have provided care management services to people with chronic illnesses. I have several years of experience as a suicide and crisis counselor. I opened my private practice in the spring of 2012. I have experience working with individuals, couples, and group facilitation. I have helped people experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, stress and relationship issues. I also have worked with people with chronic illnesses or pain and their care partners.
On a more personal note.

I grew up in southern Louisiana, New Orleans, to be specific. Not surprisingly, I love spicy food and live music; I don't like humidity or hurricanes, well, any natural disaster really. I love football, college and professional, and cooking because you have to have good food while watching football. I moved to Colorado about ten years ago with my husband and a couple of cats. We followed family up here, who had moved after Hurricane Katrina. I still go back to New Orleans often to see my family. Here in Colorado, I like to hike and ski, and roam the parks with my husband and our dogs. Seasons are still new to me so I haven't chosen my favorite yet. Lastly, I think I always wanted to be a counselor and I feel really privileged to do the work that I do.
Every counselor in Colorado Springs will have a different style of therapy, we are all unique, like our clients. It is important to find someone who is a good match for you in individual counseling or for both of you, if you are in couples therapy.
I want my office to be a place of self discovery. I truly believe that all people are capable of thriving even if we sometimes struggle. You are strong and smart and resilient. You have the ability to know what you want and decide for yourself what the most effective ways are to meet your goals. As your counselor, I am merely an assistant. I am here to help you sort through your thoughts, feelings, and choices so that you can gain a clear perspective on what you want and what is happening in your life. When we know ourselves well and are empowered in our lives, we can face anything with confidence knowing we will succeed.
"Listening is a magnetic and strange thing, a creative force. When we are listened to, it creates us, makes us unfold and expand."
